# Alerts

> Get an email or a Slack message when your AI cost or margin crosses a threshold.

Each alert watches one metric and shows its current value and status. Every project starts with a few suggested alerts, off until you turn them on.

## Create an alert

Click **New alert**, then:

1. **Who to notify**: an email address, or a Slack channel once Slack is connected in your organization settings.
2. **What to watch**: a usage metric (total AI cost, cost per feature run, tokens, number of feature runs, adoption) or the gross margin, for all or some customers and features.
3. **When to alert**: when the metric rises above or drops below an **absolute value** (e.g. gross margin below 60%) or a **relative change** against its average (e.g. cost per feature run 25% above its 30-day average), over the window you set.
